Assistant Secretary Jose W. Fernandez Holds Press Briefing on His Travel to North Africa

Office of Refugee Resettlement’s 2010 Year in Review

Read ORR’s 2010 Year in Review where Microenterprise, IDA, and RAPP are all highlighted along with a new project focusing on the provision of technical assistance and training in health and mental health. Clearly ORR Director, Eskinder Negash, is acting on needs identified by refugees and refugee service agencies. A stronger coordination of all federal agencies in support of refugee resettlement and protection is also well under way.

At the U.S. – Maghreb Entrepreneurship Conference in Algeria, ISED Solutions is represented by Chema Gargouri, ROCCD Project Manager. Ms. Gargouri is serving as a member on “Launching a Social Network Linking American and Maghreb Entrepreneurs.” Discussions are on existing networking groups and ideas for facilitating increased cross-border links among young and emerging entrepreneurs in the Maghreb Region and between the Maghreb and the United States through the development of a unique social networking platform.

E Pluribus Unum Prizes: Recognizing Exceptional Immigrant Integration Initiatives

The E Pluribus Unum Prizes national awards program provides four $50,000 prizes annually
to exceptionally successful immigrant integration initiatives. The program highlights and
rewards outstanding efforts that help immigrants and their children join the mainstream of US
society or that bring immigrants and the native born together to build stronger, more cohesive
communities. Winners are recognized at event in Washington, DC each May. The E Pluribus
Unum Prizes are coordinated by MPI's National Center on Immigrant Integration Policy.
