Farewell to Dr. Jan Losby

Today is Dr. Jan Losby’s last day at ISED Solutions. For the past five years, Jan has been a key anchor on the WF Technical Assistance team, working with Carl Rubenstein and all of you WF Directors/State Refugee Coordinators to refine collection tools and to collect and analyze data. Jan also made regular site visits, most recently working with Carisa Lopez-Ramirez in Nevada

On a personal note, I will miss very much working with Jan. She has been a steadfast teammate, putting her head and heart into every site visit and training; data design, collection, and analysis. We have spent a lot of time laughing together, planning workshops and ORR Consultation presentations while sharing life. Although we only saw each other two or three times a year, our almost daily phone calls made our virtual presence seem as close as a stroll down the hall. We even schemed about creating avatars since so much of our time with you, the WF grantees, was virtual as well. We never got very far on the design, waylaid by the stiletto leather boots we were envisioning!

As you know, Jan will be working for the Centers for Disease Control in the Applied Research and Evaluation Branch where she will coordinate national research projects designed to reduce risk factors, disease, death, and disparities associated with heart disease and stroke.  She will also provide technical assistance to CDC-funded state health departments as they undertake required evaluations.

The folks at CDC are about to learn what we know:  working with Jan is a positive exercise in collegiality and professionalism.  All of us are wishing you the best, Jan.  Farewell, friend.
