Refugee Agricultural Partnership Program Workshop

Annually, ISED Solutions and the Office of Refugee Resettlement of HHS host a national workshop to provide training and technical assistance and to promote information sharing among the Refugee Agricultural Partnership Program grantees and other attendees. The 2011 Conference was held in San Diego, California on December 14-17. As such, participants had the opportunity to visit the City Heights Farmer’s Market, New Roots Community Garden, and IRC Aquaponics site. The International Rescue Committee of San Diego served as a local partner in coordinating the logistics of the conference and acting as host. Plenary presentations came from some of the country’s most experienced professionals working with immigrant and refugee farmers, including Richard Molinar and Michael Yang from UC Davis; Jennifer Hashley from New Entry Sustainable Farming Project in Lowell, MA; Ellee Igoe and Anchi Mei from IRC San Diego; and Gary Peterson from ALBA in Salinas, CA. Three plenary sessions were videoed. PowerPoint presentations and links to these recorded sessions can be found below. PowerPoint presentations from nine additional breakout sessions are also available for viewing or download.
